Definition

A Korean distilled alcoholic beverage, similar to shochu.

Etymology

From Korean 소주(燒酒) (soju). Compare Mandarin 燒酒 /烧酒 (shāojiǔ), Japanese 焼酎 (shōchū, “shōchū”). Doublet of shaojiu and shochu.
