A classic French dessert, made from peaches and raspberry sauce accompanied with vanilla ice cream.

Etymology

Chef Auguste Escoffier at the Savoy Hotel in London in 1892 or 1893 created the dish for, and named it after, Australian opera singer Nellie Melba who took the pseudonym "Melba" from Melbourne, her home town.
