A dynamical system which returns to a trajectory, as opposed to a system which returns to a particular state, which is termed homeostasis

Etymology

From homeo- + Ancient Greek ῥεῦσις (rheûsis, “flow”), the dropped u probably resulting from analogy with ῥέω (rhéō) or its derivatives.
