Definition

The official currency of several countries, including Algeria, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Serbia, Tunisia and (as denar) North Macedonia.

Etymology

From Arabic دِينَار (dīnār) and Serbo-Croatian динар (also from Arabic), derived from the Latin dēnārius. Doublet of denar, denarius, denier, diner, dinero, and dinheiro.
