The science or study of mathematical, linguistic, and other coding patterns and histories.

Etymology

From crypto- + -logy, from Ancient Greek κρυπτός (kruptós, “hidden”) + λόγος (lógos, “word”); originally after Latin cryptologia, which is apparently first recorded in an English context.
