Aga saga

Definition

A kind of popular novel set in a suburban or rural location and featuring domestic and emotional themes involving middle-class characters.

Etymology

Rhyming phrase, named for the AGA cooker, a type of stored-heat oven popular in British country houses in the early 20th century. Coined in 1992 by novelist Terence Blacker in reference to the work of Joanna Trollope.
